Mr. Willie Stroman Obituary

Mr. Willie Lee “Brut” Stroman peacefully passed away and entered his eternal home with the lord on July 9, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born May 6, 1948, in Aiken, SC to the late Hoover Lawton Stroman and Gladys Stroman. Willie fell in love with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and loved him faithfully until he called him home. He was a devoted member of Samaria Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and the church bus driver. He took pride in being a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge #239. On August 31, 1968, Willie married the love of his life, Mattie C. Stroman, who preceded him in death. Through this union, they left a legacy of great cooks, great laughs, and a home full of love.

Willie worked diligently at the SC Highway Department for 40+ years. After a long day of work, he would come home and cook a full-course meal in his man cave, where he spent most of his time. He was known for his great cooking, especially his famous stone stew and chitterlings. He was a great baseball player and was the biggest fan of the Atlanta Braves. He loved fishing, grilling, dodge trucks, and cutting grass.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hoover and Gladys Stroman, his four brothers; Lawton (Dube) Stroman, Larry (Monkey) Stroman, Richard (Ritt) Stroman), and Milton (Luke) Stroman; one sister, Mildred (Pee-Wee) Corbitt; and one great-grandson, Maurice Stroman, Jr.

Now that he has gone from labor to reward, he leaves to cherish his memories: four precious children, Renee’ (Timothy) Culbreath, Minister Audrey Jenkins, Willie (Tara) Stroman, Maurice (Tynieshia) Stroman; four granddaughters, Ashley Jenkins, Alana Stroman, Aaliyah Culbreath, Aaliyrah Culbreath; one great-granddaughter, Ah’kiyah Culbreath; three special cousins, Janie Smalls, Janet Coleman, and Belinda Stroman; two brothers-in-law, Ulysses (Gladys) Conner and Willie Staley; three sisters-in-law, Rosetta Brown, Margaret Stroman, and Sharon Amiker Stroman; one god-daughter, Keira Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
