Mr. Greggory CeQuan Hicks Obituary

A call was made and answered, as the spirit of Greggory Ce’Quan Lorenzo Hicks was delivered to his Heavenly home on November 16th, 2022. Nink Nink, as he was most affectionately known to many (Feisty to some), was born on February 13th, 1995, in Aiken, SC to Rosalyn S. Hicks and Timothy W. Morris.

Nink Nink was a 2013 graduate of Wagener-Salley High. He played football, basketball, ran track, and received numerous awards and recognition for his athletic and academic achievements, including the Otis Baughman Award, given to an outstanding Senior Male Student-Athlete. From there, he went on to attend Bethune-Cookman University, where he studied Business Management.

Nink Nink loved his family. He had a goofy personality and loud laugh that you could not help but love. His smile would light up any room and a hug that seemed to make everything okay. He enjoyed trying to aggravate his mother’s nerves over any and everything and knew it was all love. His weekend or random rides with his grandpa and brother Rock were always something he looked forward to, as it was a special time to just talk and learn. Nink Nink loved great food, as well as clothes and shoes. This is largely attributed to his aunts Sandy and Merry. Merry though, would have to unwillingly share with him, his grandmother Rosa’s potato pie, which became their traditional holiday tussle. This was always funny to watch. Nink Nink loved when his namesake, his Uncle Gregg, would come home, just so they could talk and laugh about any and everything. It was all love when they got together. When his bonus brother Shamar came, he instantly became a big brother and shared experiences and advice on doing well, especially academically and making good decisions. You could always find him either working, with his loved ones, with his dearest friends joking or laughing, playing ball, or just riding and listening to his favorite music.

The highlight of his life came on December 18th, 2020, and November 3rd, 2022. Gionnis Kadir Hicks and Gabriel Kingsley Hicks became his purpose to serve and his reason to breathe. His desire was to be the absolute best father and role model to his sons and would sacrifice anything to ensure they were loved and taken care of as well.

He was proceeded in death by his paternal grandmother, Caroline Golson.

Nink Nink has been loved, nurtured and supported for 27 years by his mother, Rosalyn S. Hicks, of Salley, SC; brother, Andru R. D. Hicks, FL; his grandparents, Andrew (Rosa B) Hicks, of Salley, SC; his uncle, Greggory L. Hicks, FL; aunts, Cassandra Hicks-Brown (Reco), of Salley, SC, Ameryliss R. Hicks, of Charlotte, NC, and Twan Simmons, of FL; brother, Adrien S. Morris Hicks, and “Pops” Christopher L. Dyons. He loved and cherished his special cousin/niece, Nala Noelle Karnley, of Charlotte, NC.

Also left to cherish his fond memories are Gionnis and Gabriele’s mother, Daysja M. Stroman; sisters, Whitney Morris, Santana Morris, and Timiya Wayneja Caroline Morris, Avon Park, FL; and brother, Joshua Smalls; uncles, Norris Dennis and James (Gladys) Hicks, of Salley, SC, and Lanard Alvin, of Orangeburg, SC; aunts, Ida L.
