A Human Spirit has taken flight at the call of our Heavenly Father, from the distractions and weariness of time to the Peace of eternity. Angels have dispatched to escort the soul of Mrs. Ebony Shamone Dunbar-Gilbert to the mansion of the Lord, and she peacefully went on Her final journey. Affectionally known as Shay, was born on March 30, 1975. She entered eternal rest on September 4, 2022.
She attended Wagener-Salley High School. She was a faithful member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church.
Shay enjoyed fishing. Above all, she adored her three children. Shay was dearly loved by her family and friends; her love and memories will forever be with them.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Docia Staley, and sister, Claudelle Bennett.
She leaves to cherish fond memories with: her husband, Joe Lewis Gilbert, of Wagener, SC; two daughters, Lakaya (Harry) Holston, and Kileigh Dunbar, both of Aiken, SC; one son, Staff Sargeant Lakee Dunbar; one step-sister, Therese Tyler, of Pine Dale, SC; one step-brother, John Staley, of Wagener, SC; three grandchildren, Kendrick Dunbar, Na’Riah Holston, and Laveya Carter; one aunt, Cathy Dunbar, two uncles, Robert Dunbar, Sr., of Aiken, SC, and Samuel Dunbar, of Atlanta, GA, two cousins like brothers, Lamont Revell, and Devon Dunbar; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
